In the heat of the moment Ryan ran back and hid in the children's video arcade area, where he was shortly found by casino security. Ryan and his parents only received a warning from security and were not able to claim the $30,000.

Throughout the next decade Ryan considered himself as a recreational gambler. He mainly played micro-stakes poker tournaments online and small home games with friends. It wasn't until late 2016 that Ryan found a job working in IT, this allowed him to gamble on a much more regular basis.
